Vokiečių poetas Rainer Maria Rilke parašė beveik 400 eilėraščių prancūzų kalba, o amerikiečių kompozitorius Morten Lauridsen, atrinkęs penkis iš jų, sukūrė dainų ciklą „Les Chansons des Roses“ (Rožių dainos). „Dirait-on“ – baigiamoji šio ciklo dalis.

The German poet Rainer Maria Rilke wrote nearly 400 poems in French, and the American composer Morten Lauridsen, selecting five of them, created the song cycle Les Chansons des Roses (Songs of the Roses). “Dirait-on” is the final movement of this cycle.
