The first half of the program features subtle, impressionistically colored works by Claude Debussy, luminous and spiritually uplifting compositions by Morten Lauridsen, and richly textured, romantically expansive music by Johannes Brahms, written for piano four hands and mixed choir. These works will be performed by pianists Sonata and Rokas Zubovas together with the Dainava Choir.

The second half presents a world premiere – the oratorio “Chronos and Kairos” by composer Nijolė Sinkevičiūtė, written especially for this occasion and dedicated to Dainava, setting poetry by Valdas Aušra. This four-movement work will be performed by the choir along with pianists Zubovas and tenor Martynas Matutis, with the poet himself appearing as narrator.

“Chronos and Kairos” offers a poetic and philosophically reflective exploration of the human spiritual journey over the course of a year. Within the steady flow of time — Chronos, we occasionally encounter quiet yet deeply meaningful moments. Often unassuming and easily overlooked, these moments reveal their significance only when we pause to reflect, speaking to us with a personal and intimate message. Kairos is the moment when God himself speaks directly to the human heart. Nijolė Sinkevičiūtė’s sensitive and original music gives voice to Valdas Aušra’s poetry, illuminating these moments of divine presence within the unfolding of our lives.
